Three repeat honorees headline #SummitMBB All-Academic Team

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – North Dakota State’s Rocky Kreuser, Omaha’s Matt Pile and South Dakota State’s Matt Dentlinger were all repeat honorees selected to the 2020-21 Summit League Academic All-League Team as voted by the league’s faculty athletic representatives and sports information directors.

For Kreuser and Pile, it was the third straight season the duo earned the honor, while Dentlinger collected his second accolade. That trio was joined by North Dakota junior Filip Rebraca and Oral Roberts sophomore Max Abmas. The players were chosen for the honor based on their academic and athletic performances during this past season.

Kreuser owns a 3.62 GPA and is majoring in university studies with minors in psychology and criminal justice. The White Bear Lake, Minn., native averaged career-bests in scoring (15.7 ppg) and rebounding (7.0 rpg) en route to earning all-league first team and all-tournament team honors.

A back-to-back CoSIDA Academic All-American, Pile carries a 3.95 GPA as he works his way towards a degree in medicinal chemistry. The Wichita, Kan., native plans to enroll in medical school this fall and wrapped up his Omaha career averaging 9.9 ppg and 7.7 apg in 119 games. He averaged 10.7 ppg and 8.7 rpg in his final campaign.

Dentlinger has maintained a 4.00 GPA in the classroom so far at SDSU and the mechanical engineering major started all 23 games for the Jackrabbits, averaging 10.2 ppg and 4.4 rpg while shooting 63.7 percent from the floor. The junior helped SDSU to its third-straight regular-season title in 2020-21.

Rebraca holds a 3.48 GPA in economics and is on track to graduate this summer in just three years. He was seventh in the league in scoring at 17.3 ppg and fourth in rebounding at 8.2 rpg in league play en route to earning all-league second team honors.

Abmas owns a 3.69 GPA in BioMedical Chemistry and won the Division I scoring crown with a 24.5 ppg average this past season. He was named the Summit League Player of the Year, the Lou Henson Mid-Major Player of the Year and averaged 26.7 ppg in three NCAA Tournament games in leading the Golden Eagles to the Sweet 16.

To be eligible for the Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of his team’s competitions.
